Normally when it comes to events we operate in a somewhat haphazard manner with a request for models circulating a few months in advance and the layout co-ordinator (normally me) wondering what will turn up. Now that we've a few model railway shows under our belt we can be reasonably confident that we will have two shows, usually August (Dun Laoghaire) and October (Blackrock?) to attend to. We need two for Lugbulk and I'm sure we could 'source' an invite if necessary to other events.

What I'm looking for at this stage are some early commitments for participation in the events so that when the call goes out I'll have an idea what space to request and be confident that we can fill it. Having just returned from Legoworld there are a few things that we might be able to do to improve our displays, such as ensuring that all areas are covered by base plates and we've stock trees to add. We probably don't have enough road baseplates between us to provide a border to frame models as they did in Copenhagen.

One idea that I got from the Nyhaven display next to Heuston in Copenhagen is to introduce a water aspect to the display by simply placing a two row wide strip of blue baseplates on front of a street and MOC modulars. I think we've enough builders amongst us that could come up with some modulars for a street. Furthermore this allows ships to anchor in front of the jetty and open up to a larger harbour with seagoing ships if necessary. If anyone is up for building a modular building that will align with the official sets please let me know and we can discuss dimensions.

I have a second project under consideration in collaberation with Brickish members. This will be a larger display suitable for a city layout. I can discuss this at the next meeting.
