Gosh, the book is rather dry. I think I prefer the Jeff Wayne version.

Martian War Machine


I built this for a friend who wants to display it at some SciFi events. I'm not totally happy with the head, but had to build with what was to hand (I'd prefer if the "windscreen" was green rather than blue for a start, but didn't have enough trans-green).

An interesting part of the challenge was making it so it breaks down easily into something that's easy to transport. Each leg breaks into three pieces, and the central frame collapses so that it all packs into a shoebox. When assembled it stands about waist height (I'd guess about 90cm).
