It may not quite feel like it at times but we are well into the summer and with it comes great LEGO events.
Last week a small team attended the 2025 Cork Summer Show and had a great time. We had a mini-mosaic free build activity on site along with some great MOCs including the giant tractor and farm animals created and built at Brick Feile in 2024 and out of 2x4 bricks only!
Speaking of Brick Féile, planning for Brick Féile, Ireland's premier event for LEGO(R) fans is well underway and our builders are very busy creating in order to be ready for 19 and 20 July at CityNorth Hotel. For those not familiar with this once a year event, this year we have:
- More new MOCs (unique LEGO creations/ dioramas) designed by members of brick.ie and their international friends - most are new for Brick Féile) - Star Wars, trains, art, Stranger Things, history all well represented but something for every taste and age - and our builders will be on hand to provide tips and chat.
- brick.ie group projects - for 2025 we have two new projects at Brick Feile. You'll need to watch out for the vikings as they raid about in our giant viking layout. If you like snakes and ladders, you'll like our rooms project where your minifig must try and navigate through our mystery mansion of strange rooms - will your minifig win?
- Great Ball Contraption - enjoy the return of this unique technic-powered great ball mover - only at Brick Feile!
- Fairy Bricks mosaic challenge - designed by professionals and built by the public - we've had a sneak peek and this year's new design looks fabulous - you won't see these large Fairy Bricks mosaics anywhere else
- Fairy Bricks tombola - this is a charity event. At the tombola you have a chance to win sets and poly-bags but every entry wins a genuine LEGO minifigure - all proceeds go to Fairy Bricks charity who deliver tens of thousands of euro worth of LEGO to Irish hospitals each year
- Mini-mosaic building - from the small kids to the large, build your own design in the atrium and see it on our mosaic wall - suitable for younger ages
- Ireland's largest brick pits return - including a DUPLO pit suitable for the younger ages - more bricks for our visitors to be inspired by
- Competitions including our regular mini-treasure hunt - win fantastic LEGO prizes
- LEGO-themed colouring for those 'time out' moments. Remember the facilities of the CityNorth hotel are available to all visitors who can come and go with wristbands.
- LEGO puzzle table - all brick-built and a challenge for the best of us
- Fancy help building a huge original LEGO model? - The big build in the atrium is back. Is it a duck, is it a tractor, is it a pirate? Nope, it will be something different yet again made only out of 2x4 bricks in the atrium - designed by a professional and built with visitor assistance over Brick Feile weekend.
- Retail therapy - we'll have several vendors with parts and sets for all tastes including vintage sets.
- LEGO printing - we will also have a LEGO printing facility on site where our UK expert can print your request onto LEGO parts or you can acquire customised Irish prints not available anywhere else
- LEGO F1 - watch out! Visitors will be able to race the official F1 Speed Champion cars against each other, but beware, if you go too fast the cars will crash, possibly into each other! We expect carnage!
- Full bar and restaurant facilities onsite with ample free car parking
Our event line up doesn't stop there.
A month later, on Saturday 31 August, brick.ie will host Taney Brick Saturday in Dundrum, Dublin. We'll have our mini-mosaic and a brick pit along with more fabulous builds to admire - keep an eye on our Facebook page for details.
In October, a large group from the brick.ie team will be at Dublin Brick Con in Tallaght. More details on that will be revealed closer to the event. And if that isn't enough to satisfy your LEGO cravings, two weeks later a brick.ie team will be at the South Dublin Model Railway Show in Blackrock College over the bank holiday weekend.
Hope to see you at an event soon
In the meantime, keep on clicking those bricks.
