MOC - National Library of Ireland

Breda and I recently completed the long-in-the-build National Library of Ireland project. It has been installed in the foyer of the National Library which from next weekend is open Saturdays and Sundays.

This model commenced over 3 years ago and in addition to a traditional (for us anyway) grey and tan exterior has a full interior over split levels, some of which is not easily visible from behind the barrier. A construction log was maintained which is running on a video screen in the foyer (and which we also have as a mini-display at Brick Feile).

Olton Hall (Hogwarts Express)

Presenting the Great Western Railway locomotive 5972 “Olton Hall”, better known as Hogwarts Railways locomotive “Hogwarts Castle” - the loco which pulls the Hogwarts Express.

Purists look away now. This uses BigBenBricks XL driving wheels and a Circuit Cubes motor and bluetooth battery hub. I have to say, I’m delighted with both. The wheels are injection molded, and the quality is fantastic. The motor is 2x4 studs x 2 bricks high, and it fits inside the firebox of the locomotive easily. It’s connected by a wire to the tender – lift up the coal section and the battery hub is sitting inside. The app to control it leaves a bit to be desired, and documentation is almost non-existent, but at least in theory apps can be updated and supposedly more documentation will be released in “spring 2022”.

This was a challenging build at every stage.

Easter MOC for Facebook page

If anyone has an easter-themed MOC they'd be interested in seeing on our Facebook Page this weekend please send Bfenz or myself a photo(s).

Mel-Tropolis

Hi Everyone, I've just posted a new video of the 3rd rebuild of the Lego City to YouTube.

I've named the city Meltropolis after my wife and it will have 4 districts, named after the kids, Leahsburg, the industrial area, Georgiatown, a shopping district, Abbieville, residential and Arwentureland, the fairground. This is going to take years to complete and I'm trying to use as many of the sets I have to begin with and not spend too much on parts so I'll be starting some projects like a mountain or hospital and returning when I can afford more parts.

I'll be automating the trains using 9V track with arduinos for control and the plan is to illuminate the buildings with LED light kits.

MOC - Gamora and Thanos

The fifth in the series of Amfenz/Dfenz Marvel superhero mosaics, this time by me ... and still waiting on lavender and sand blue 1x1 plates to make these a little easier.

NIR 4000

I've been going back and scraping some of my very early 6 wide trains and remaking 7 wide.

Remade the NIR 4000 class, replaced the inverted slopes with cheese slopes, though still some work to do at the front as the bottom section sits out about half a brick more than it should.

I'm not sure of forum etiquette here, but I think it's time for a better introduction by displaying what I'm currently working on. I suppose I'm best off keeping one thread for all my future MOCs, and I can later edit this to be an index.
