Cork event to bring school holidays to a close

Looking for somewhere to bring the little ones to round off the summer holidays?

This coming weekend (25th and 26th August) a team of brick.ie builders heads down to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cork to create the Fanzone at Brickxfest Cork. This dedicated area for fan-built creations will accompany the brick pits and building challenges provided by the Brickx Club. Check out the Brickx Club Facebook page for ticket information.

We barely have time to pack our models away before we return to Munster. On Sunday 9th September a brick.ie team returns to the South Court Hotel in Limerick as part of the popular Limerick Diecast Show.

It doesn't stop there as we've a busy few weeks and months ahead. If you can't make it to Cork or Limerick brick.ie models will be at the Model Railway Society of Ireland's model railway show in Dublin over the October bank holiday weekend.

Our busy June continues

Its a busy month for brick.ie. Some of our members have just returned from exhibiting at a fantastic fan event in Paredes de Coura in Portugal. However, we've barely time to unpack the cases before we head off to the Kildare County Show in Athy this Father's Day. With 20 exhibitors and new models again on show it promises to be a great day out.

Our models in the Arnotts 175 museum remain on display throughout June and July so if you haven't checked out the Dame Street Central Bank and Adelphi cinema buildings in particular you still have time. As part of that event we were interviewed by Ryan Tubridy for his radio show.

A brick.ie team will also be heading to Manchester's Bricktastic event organised by the fantastic charity Fairy Bricks at the end of June. In between, we have our regular Dublin and Limerick meetings. Also, we feature in the current Blocks Magazine (Issue 44).

May events on the horizon

The arrival of May signals the kick-off the busy event season for us. First up on 11 to 12 May we have our free Naas Library event. This not only features the latest creations from 20 members but also expands the building zone beyond our brick pit to include a brick wall for the first time.

At the same time as we prepared for Naas, a team of brick.ie builders has being installing models into Arnotts Department store as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations. As well as giving a chance to get a closer look at popular brick.ie models of the GPO 1916 and Arnotts itself, we've been busy clicking bricks to recreate the former Adelphi cinema and the Central Bank in Dame Street, two new builds which premier at Arnotts 175.

May also sees the launch of Brick Con, a sold-out event in Limerick run by local AFOLs at which many brick.ie members will be displaying.

And if that wasn't enough, we continue to plan for the Kildare County Show this coming Fathers Day.
