Between the display in Naas and the release of Solo join us for a chat about all things Lego.
The arrival of May signals the kick-off the busy event season for us. First up on 11 to 12 May we have our free Naas Library event. This not only features the latest creations from 20 members but also expands the building zone beyond our brick pit to include a brick wall for the first time.
At the same time as we prepared for Naas, a team of brick.ie builders has being installing models into Arnotts Department store as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations. As well as giving a chance to get a closer look at popular brick.ie models of the GPO 1916 and Arnotts itself, we've been busy clicking bricks to recreate the former Adelphi cinema and the Central Bank in Dame Street, two new builds which premier at Arnotts 175.
May also sees the launch of Brick Con, a sold-out event in Limerick run by local AFOLs at which many brick.ie members will be displaying.
And if that wasn't enough, we continue to plan for the Kildare County Show this coming Fathers Day.
Details to be announced.
This bi-annual model railway and hobbies exhibition organised by the Model Railway Society of Ireland takes place over the October 2018 bank holiday weekend. A team from brick.ie will participate once again to bring a LEGO element to this popular hobby event.
January saw over a dozen members bring out their latest creations to Tayto Park as part of Brickx Fest 2018. If the high standard is anything to go by then 2018 should be a great year for brick.ie exhibitions. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of the event. A big shout out goes to our member Elkaczorro for his fantastic (and massive) new ship.
We have now set the date for our free Naas Library event, one of the highlights of our year. Our 2018 event will be held on 11 and 12 May commencing at 2pm on Friday 11th with normal library opening hours on Saturday 12th.
Meanwhile our regular meetings continue on the third Saturday of the month at the Black Sheep pub in Capel Street Dublin. The first Tuesday of the month also sees some of our Limerick members meet up. Check our forum for details.
Join us on the third Saturday in April in the Black Sheep Pub for a bit of food, drink and banter. If we have some pocket money left we might spend it on Toy Corner.
A little later in the month than usual because of Paddy's day, our March meeting will be on Saturday the 24th.
The location will not change though, the Black Sheep pub on Capel street.
Join us for a chat about chocolate eggs and qualifying in Melbourne. Oh, and ABS from Denmark.
The Kildare County Show is expected to take place on 17 June 2018.
Our 2018 Naas Library event is provisionally scheduled for Friday 11 May and Saturday 12 May. This is one of brick.ie's flagship events where most of our builders come out to play. Check out our members' latest creations, our brick pit and more. Further detaiks to follow.
Happy new year to all brick.ie members. Hopefully you will have got lots of inspiration over the Christmas and New Year period and are ready to start those wonderful new models.
January 2018 will be a busy month. For brick.ie members participating in Lugbulk the deadline for finalising your parts is Sunday 21st January with payment shortly thereafter.
On the event side the models in the Arnotts windows have been removed but you don't have to wait long for your next brick-fix. Some brick.ie members are already getting ready to participate in Brickxfest 2018 at Tayto Park in Meath from 27-28 January. For more information from the organisers about this charity event see here https://www.facebook.com/events/1573316629415272/ .
Our own brick.ie 2018 events will be announced in due course as dates and venues are confirmed.
